Newport Rhode Island
This is the main street in Newport RI as you take the corner near the famous sculpture of "the wave". I like how the sun set on the building that night at the end of summer and how the compliment of blue and orange hues fill the street.

"Gotta" Have a Del's
This is a lemonade stand in RI that people stop at in the spring and summer months.
Here it is Dad, our favorite pastime. Hope everyone in Rhode Island likes this one as much as you. Let me know your favorite spot in Naples and I'll stir up the turp. Love Dawn

Meshanicut Lake
It was a beautiful weekend to paint at the lake I arranged my warm and cool palette, there were many people walking and driving. Some would stop to take a look, I enjoyed their friendly conversations. The ducks were very irritated with the fact that I set my painting tools and materials near their territory. One raised her wings, honked and hissed then a quarrel broke out among the other ducks.

All the painting that I did over the summer with Kathy Weber and friends from the Portsmouth Art League really made a marked improvement on my skills as well as my motivation. I am so inspired to just get out there and paint, I also have brought new ideas into the elementary art classroom with my students. The professional development really does ignite that old passion for painting. When I'm inspired my students can feel the inspiration through my teaching, and their motivation soars, I can see it in their work.

View through the Irish Memorial
Had a lovely day painting with the group, when you walk through the city your eye catches the most interesting sights. Driving a car through does not lend itself to the optimal visual experience.

Beautiful crisp October weather! Great day to paint outdoors, I am so fortunate to have study time with Kathy Weber and Anne Winthrop Cordin. Looking forward to next Saturday morning!

Neighborhood in Late August
This is the neighbors house across the street, I like the colors of the late summer months, and painting in the neighborhood during the summer is comfortable. I also enjoyed hearing the little kids run up and down the street, too many children today spend more time inside on computers than outside playing with friends, so it was a welcome sound to hear the little voices all afternoon.

Crows Nest
This painting was done the first weekend in August. A little spot, in Warwick not far from my house, a great spot for me when I don't want to venture out too far. Dave sat with me for this one, the colors in the afternoon are great!
Corner Store on Hope
I painted during the morning hours on Hope Street in Bristol with the group, this corner store is across from two art galleries, next to the town hall. Anne painted the same scene, it was so interesting to see we had the same view but our paintings are very different. Always enjoy my time painting with Anne and Kathy.
Backyard Tire Swing
The change is already starting to happen with the weather. The colors are changing ever so slightly. This was painted yesterday late in the day, my backyard.

Nectarine Splash
I have not painted the martini series for some months, so its time for a splash, the humidity is high today!

Colt School
This is an elementary school in Bristol, Colt School...how surprising. I attended this school as a child, the building was beautiful then and now. The building was constructed with marble and the details are lavished with copper, and stone sculptures. The location is Hope Street, near Linden Place where the historic De Wolf family lived. A family that was involved with the early slave trade in RI.
Yellow Victorian
This is a home on Wilbur Ave. in Cranston, walking distance from my home. I painted outdoors one breezy afternoon. A lot of concentration went into the subtle color variations for this painting. An old friend of mine from junior high days, lives in this house.
Tennetts
Another overcast day in the summer, only had a handful thus far so I'm not complaining! It also gives me a chance to foster my new appreciation for the color of grey. There lies beauty in a grey day!
Hope Street
All the houses on Hope Street in Bristol are decorated for the 4th of July. As I looked for subject matter, this caught my eye. Painting outdoors with the group of plein air artists is wonderful. If you are interested in trying this call me!
Ronias Hydrangeas
Grey is a very prominent hue associated with the New England climate. I like the classic style of painting flowers in a still life composition with a grey background, mixing paint to achieve different grey tones is interesting.

The Green Chair
I looked up and dark clouds were rolling in like dough rising in a hot oven. So I ran in the house with the dog, and the painting supplies and started a still life.

Saint Michaels in Bristol
I had a glorious day painting with the group, very overcast all morning, this is an old church in Bristol dating back to the seventeen hundreds rich with history. The feeling of moving the paint around is spectacular!
Later in the day I had lunch at Quitos on the water with my friends daughters Jami and Jenna.

Hope Meadows I
The flowers in the meadow are called Queen Ann's Lace, they are delicate and at the same time hardy and grow everywhere in Rhode Island. As you drive down the road or the highway you can see them flourinshing.
Hope Meadows
I drove up to a meadow not far from where I live to capture the sunset. The sky looked stormy and the clouds were mysterious, so just before dusk I gabbed the camera and set off to seize the moment.

Crayola Flowers
My students are creating wall murals in the cafeteria at school and the theme is "Monets Garden", as they paint, I paint. This was done with classroom crayola water color. The children are my inspiration, every day is a blessing.
Happy Birthday David! My baby is 18!!!
